Can calling cards be used to attend a conference call?
Yes, calling cards can be used to attend a conference. Just dial the calling card phone number, input the card's passcode, and then dial the conference number given to you. Depending on the calling card used, you may have to pay a fee (normally deducted as minutes from your card) for calls made from a payphone.

What is the maximum number of participants in a conference room at one time?
Currently, up to 500 participants can attend a conference call at one time.

Is there a maximum amount of time a conference call can be in session?
No, there is no maximum amount of time a conference may stay in session.

Can a cell phone be used instead of a land line to attend a conference?
Yes, a cell phone may be used to call into a conference if a land line is unavailable. Note that the quality of the call is reduced when using a cell phone compared to a land line telephone.

Is there a surcharge for calls into a conference?
There are no surcharges for calling into a conference. The only charges incurred are from your long distance provider. International rates may apply if calling from abroad.

Can I choose my own phone number to call into a conference?
A permanent conference phone number is given by our system after successful registration. This phone number will also appear in email invitations to any intended moderators and participants.

Does the number of participants affect the quality of the conference call?
As the number of participants increases, so the does the probability of unintended participant error. Things like background noise, unmuted lines, and type of phone used can affect the quality of the conference call.

If there are echoes heard during a conference call, how are those reduced or eliminated?
Participants should make sure any other microphone source into the conference call is muted. Moderators can mute all of the lines and one-by-one unmute the lines to see if any particular caller or callers are causing the echo effect. If this is determined to be the case, then those callers can be muted for the entirety of the conference, or they can try calling in again from a better phone or quiter area.

If distortion is heard during a conference call, is there something a participant can do to reduce its occurrence?
The participant should make sure to call from a good, quality phone, and should make sure to keep any background noise to an absolute minimum. If this doesn't help, the participant should hang up and reattempt a connection into the conference.

If a participant calls into a conference before the moderator, what happens?
Depending on the preferences of the moderator, three different things can occur. One, the participant may be prompted to hang up and call back at a later time. Two, the participant may be placed on hold until the moderator arrives, at which point the participant is placed into the conference. Lastly, the participant may be placed directly into the conference without having to wait for the moderator.

Confreecall Plug-in for
Yahoo! Messenger

Where do I download the Confreecall Plug-in for Yahoo! Messenger?
If you are on this site, you can go to the home page and click on the Yahoo! Messenger Plug-in graphic near the top of the page. Follow the prompts to download the plug-in. In the event that this link is not working, you can search the Yahoo! Plug-ins by clicking here.

How do I activate the Confreecall Plug-in?
First, you need to be signed in to Yahoo! Messenger and have your window up. Next, click on "Actions" in the top toolbar and then select "Choose a Plug-in." Locate the "Confreecall for Yahoo! Messenger" Plug-in and click on "Start". You will notice a small window change under the "Plug-ins" graphic in the middle of the Yahoo! Messenger window and it will say "Confreecall for Yahoo! Messenger."

Now that I've loaded the Confreecall Plug-in, how do I use it?
There are two different ways to make this service work for your conferencing needs. In the plug-in window, you will notice two different graphics and a form field where you can enter the subject of the conference (see the image below). The graphic on the left says "Schedule a Conference" and when clicked allows the user to input their name, subject of conference, date and time of conference including time zone, and recipients. Users can even create and save an email list for future use. Each recipient will receive an email notifying them of the access number to dial, the conference room number to input when prompted and it notifies the recipients to load the Confreecall Plug-in in their Yahoo! Messenger window.

If a reservationless conference is desired, then the user can hold down the CTRL button on their keyboard and select multiple online buddies. Then, the user would need to click on the "Conference Now" button. If the others do not have the Confreecall Plug-in loaded, they will receive a message to do so, and they will see the access lines and conference room number to dial in order to enter the conference at that time.

If the recipients receive the access lines and conference room number, why is it necessary for them to download the Plug-in? All of the participants through Yahoo! Messenger need the Plug-in so that a proper conference log occurs in the system.

This service is great, but how is it different than Yahoo Messenger with Voice?
With the Confreecall Plug-in, Yahoo! Messenger users can conference with up to 500 people. Also, there are features such as mute/unmute and participant count. It is secure in that only those buddies you send the information to will be able to enter the conference.

Do I need the latest version of Yahoo! Messenger to use this Plug-in?
Yes, you need to go to http://messenger.yahoo.com/ to download the free Yahoo! Messenger with Voice (Version 8.0 or greater).

Emails sent out by this sytem will tell your buddies when the conference will be, what number(s) to dial, and the conference room number needed to access your conference. Whatever you decide to do (reservationless vs. reservation conferences), you will be ready to conference!
